LONG BEACH, CALIF. This is the 10th. year that dictionaries have been purchased and distributed to third-grade students in the Long Beach Unified School District, charter, local parochial and private schools. The Long Beach Dictionary Project promotes literacy and the goal that all students will leave third-grade at the end of the year as “good writers, active readers, and creative thinkers”. The Miller Foundation, which has been providing dictionaries to third-graders since 2003, is celebrating giving away its 100,000 lexicon literary.
