These trips down Memory Lane are absolutely fascinating. The Pacific Electric Red Car system was the technological marvel of its age, and we should rightly mourn its passing. There’s a whole documentary on DVD called Los Angeles, The Early Days detailing the rise (and fall) of the Red Cars, and it’s filled with then-and-now shots, and there’s even a trailer you can download at LAtheEarlyDays.com — it even has an old-time wax cylinder music score!
